Ibotta at Cannes Lions 2024
Goal
Create a campaign identity that drives traffic to the event cabana with the goal of increasing awareness of the Ibotta Performance Network and enabling meetings with potential clients.
Overview
Worked as the lead designer to create the campaign visual identity, brand guidelines and materials for Ibotta’s presence at Cannes Lions 2024, an event attended by the executives and sales team.
Process
Coming off the heels of a successful showing at Groceryshop 2023, Ibotta was ready for their debut at Cannes Lions 2024. I was responsible for designing the key visual art and the campaign branding sheet. The Marketing team landed on the phrase "Elevate your..." and wanted a visual that complemented the idea of potential clients being able to level up with the Ibotta Performance Network. Knowing this event was being held in Cannes, France along the bay in the middle of summer, I wanted to create a visual that was bright and colorful, while still staying true to the IPN's dark charcoal branding.
As the lead designer, I approached the design for this campaign in three steps:
-
Led a brainstorm with the Creative team designers to put together a vision board with ideas.
-
Designed three concepts for the campaign identity using the board as inspiration.
-
Presented the concepts to the committee leads on the B2B Marketing team, where I gathered feedback.
The committee loved the simplicity of a stair and doorway concept I created, with a colorful gradient that used all six of the IPN's brand colors.

Once the visuals were approved by the committee, I then created a branding sheet that included all the branding assets in one file, giving the other designers a one stop shop for everything they could need for campaign deliverables. This included the copy in French, which was a requirement for all ads shown in France.

I designed a custom hand fan "brochure" for the event in collaboration with the Events team, shown below. The Events team wanted a hand fan that served two purposes: a way for attendees to cool down, and an informational piece all about the IPN! The back included the IPN logo and colorful gradient from the campaign identity, while the front detailed what the IPN is and why brands and retailers should work with Ibotta.

The other designers used the branding sheet to create additional deliverables for the campaign, including the cabana design, promotional products, signs, digital ads and LinkedIn posts, and more.

Outcome
The event was a success, leading to increased brand awareness by putting Ibotta in front of new potential partners, giving the CEO a speaking engagement opportunity on stage, and the sales team was able to hold meetings with current and potential clients. Ibotta went to Cannes again in 2025 and went even bigger!
